On August 24, 2021, the Sitka Assembly extended the mask mandate with a vote of 5 to 2. Five votes were needed to pass the extension. The ordinance originally passed in July with a vote of 6 to 0. Valerie Nelson did not vote in July. She voted no on the extension. Mayor Steven Eisenbeisz voted yes on the original ordinance, but voted no on the extension. He was the only person who reversed his vote. I emailed the mayor and asked him what made him change his vote. He did not respond to my email. Several community members spoke against the extension including myself. One person spoke in favor of the extension.

The night you passed the mandatory mask mandate, I was horrified to hear you talk about how it shouldn’t be a big deal to restrict the oxygen on 3-year-old children for six or eight hours a day.
Sorry but, are you out of your minds?
If I came upon you and you were restricting the breathing of a three-year old child, and the child was resisting and crying as any three-year-old would do when an adult is suffocating them, I would tell you to stop. If necessary, I would physically restrain you, because that’s what normal people do to protect children from psychopaths.
I recognize that you are well meaning, good hearted people, but that doesn’t make any difference when you’re suffocating 3-year-old children. Your mandate requires parents and day care workers to act like psychopaths.
God gave his children the breath of life. You don’t have the authority to restrict our breath.
You view smiling, breathing children as unclean. History tells us what happens when one group of people views another group as unclean.
Our society is going down a similar road. Even in Sitka, employers and businesses are practicing discrimination against those they see as unclean. This fact should be especially troubling to Sitka’s Alaska Native population. This practice institutionalizes fear, intolerance, hatred, and far too often results in violence. Your scientifically indefensible and child abusing mask mandate institutionalizes the same.
You scare me far more than COVID. The people in this town who beg for you to restrict our inalienable rights scare me. I’m scared for my children and grandchildren. How many parents across the country pulled their kids from public school last year to protect them from propagandized teachers and administrators?
Such irony! The people we trust to teach our children critical thinking skills have lost their ability to think critically.
If you hadn’t lost those skills, you would know that virtually every Covid related stat is a lie based on fraud and corruption. One example among many: SEARHC, like countless other healthcare organizations, runs its PCR test at 40 cycles, meaning that virtually every “case” is a false positive. If I’m wrong on that point, I invite SEARHC officials to publicly set the record straight.
If you hadn’t lost those skills, you would know that doctors are not allowed to speak the truth on this subject.
You would know that rebreathing filth weakens the immune system, making people more susceptible to Covid and other illnesses.
You would know that masking children will result in lifelong psychological harm for an unknown number of them.
Speaking of someone who has been psychologically harmed, Arnold Schwarzenegger recently said to freedom-loving American people, “Screw your freedom.”
That’s exactly what sociopaths are doing to us through you. You’re screwing our health, our minds, and our freedom.
As long as blinded, well meaning, good hearted people such as yourselves remain in office, America, Americans, and American freedom are screwed.
The good part of this story is that tyranny always falls. Well meaning, good hearted people eventually wake up. The question is: how many more Sitkans and their kids will you hurt before you wake up?
