I’ve finally started to get more big runs in. Last week Jeff, my dad, and I ran up to Indian River Falls, which ended up being around 15 miles. Today my dad, Jeff, and Angel ran from the Herring cove trailhead to the Green Lake dam; it was also around fifteen miles. Today’s run was probably the hardest considering it was almost all hills. We also saw some whales when we were driving to the trailhead. I wonder how many whales we will see going from L.A. to New York.
Running Sitka’s Trails
Happy New Year 2013!
As far as I know, no father and son team has ever run across America together. David and I want to change that. Of course, I don’t want to hold David back, so I’ve got one beautiful and busy year to get ready. Sitka ain’t much for roads, but that’s okay, neither am I. I’m a trail runner and Sitka is a trail runner’s paradise. In the past four days, I’ve run three runs: Indian River Falls, Beaver Lake, and Picnic Rock, for a total of 30 hilly miles. That’s not as much as we’ll be running when we cross the U.S.A., but it’s a good start. And it was done on great trails with great company, including, Jeff, Drew, Els, Russell, David, and Angel. (Thank you all!)
Photographers dream of taking pictures in places as beautiful as Sitka’s trails. I’m lucky enough to run those trails every chance I get. I snapped the following photos on the Indian River and Beaver Lake runs.
Enjoy!
